There might have been a time when all of us decided to treat our headaches, backaches and other body pains with medications, based on ibuprofen (Motrin, Nurofen, Advil & Nuprin).
Ibuprofen is known to deal with any sort of pain instantly but does not solve the long-term problems inside the body.
Whilst ibuprofen is great at reducing inflammation and pain, there are many harmful effects from long – term use. The side – effects of long – term ibuprofen (and other NSAIDs) use can include hypertension (high blood pressure), erectile dysfunction, diarrhea/nausea, gastrointestinal bleeding, increased risk of heart attack, increased risk of kidney cancer and more… Luckily nature has provided a natural, safer alternative – turmeric.
This natural ingredient acts very mildly yet efficiently, unlike ibuprofen and similar NSAIDs which hinder the COX – 2 enzyme, thus leading to further inflammation.
The active compound in turmeric, called curcumin, provides exceptional health benefits. Turmeric tea is one of the most ancient, effective, and healthy remedies used to eliminate pain and inflammation.
In a case you are breast feeding or pregnant, you should not drink turmeric tea.
Turmeric tea recipe
In order to boost the effects, you can add other ingredients, such as ginger.
– 4 cups water
– 2 tablespoons grated fresh turmeric root, or 1 heaped teaspoon ground turmeric
– Fresh lemon/honey to taste
Boil some water on the stove and once it starts bubbling throw in the turmeric. If you are using fresh grated turmeric, boil for 15 – 20 minutes. Strain tea properly, then add the lemon and spice it up with honey to your taste. Enjoy!
